Q: What is your advice to software leaders looking to be acquired?
Leaders and strategics looking to be acquired should be asking themselves the following:
a) Do my people have a future and the opportunity to grow?
b) Is my reputation and customers in safe hands?
c) Will my business retain its identity, brand, and autonomous agility?
The Lumine team is only too aware of the promises made by our competitors, but it’s critical the software leader being acquired spend the time to qualify suiters rigorously. The consequences of the wrong selection are terminal to your business, people, and personal brand! As a rule, the higher the upfront multiple, the less likely the purchaser is to consider any of those 3 key questions!
Q: Who is your mentor, and what do you admire about their leadership style?
I am extremely fortunate to still be working with my first and only true mentor, the CEO of Lumine. David was the Global Services Executive at Syndesis, who enabled me with the tools required to successfully deliver mass-scale business transformation programs. These tools have been used throughout my career and more importantly, are still used today! David’s ability to concisely solve problems ensures respect from all levels of staff allowing for direct and determined leadership from the front!
